The name "Sutiono" originated from the Chinese surname "张“ which, in Hokkien, is pronounced "Thio". It was changed to sound more Indonesian in the 60s, when my grandfather signed the paperwork for his Indonesian citizenship.

Born to architect parents and an artistic family, I grew up in the midst of blueprints and paintings. I was born in Indonesia, spent part of my formative years in China, and graduated from the UK with a degree in Cell Biology.

Art has always been my preferred mode of expression, and I've always been captivated by the beauty of complexity in science. I love biology-related puns and illustrations just as much as I love typography and handlettering.
